Lakeshore Community Credit Union

Here to serve your financial needs

Lakeshore Community Credit Union, Inc. has a long and successful history serving residents in the counties of Lorain and Cuyahoga. Word of mouth has been our best marketing technique since the credit union’s inception in 1955. At that time, two BF Goodrich employees, Willis Eschenfelder and Jim Myers, applied to the state of Ohio and received a charter to open BF Goodrich Employees Credit Union. One of the first loans was for furniture–$100 at 1% with monthly payments of $5! It’s hard to believe that our current rates are not much higher than this 1955 rate!

At first the credit union ran out of a cigar box, then an old guard shack, an office at the back of the plant, a trailer, then finally a new office in 1988 where the Avon Lake location still exists today.

The credit union has grown in size and services over the years. Since 2000, the credit union changed its name to Lakeshore Community Credit Union and extended service to those who live, work, attend church or school in Northeast Lorain County and Cuyahoga County. Lakeshore continues to find new ways to surprise and delight its members each year.
